Description of key information

The 72-h EC50 and 72-h NOEC were >100 mg/l in the green algae Desmodesmus subspicatus.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A GLP compliant, OECD 201 guideline study is available for dipropylene glycol, measuring a 72-h EC50 and a 72-h NOEC value of >100 mg/l in the the green algae Desmodesmus subspicatus (BASF, 2002). Furthermore, short-term effect concentrations (96-h EC50 =968 mg/l) and long-term effect concentrations (ChV 245 mg/l) are calculated using ECOSAR. The measured value of >100 mg/l, based on biomass and growth rate, is used in the assessment.
