A positive response has been obtained in a LLNA test. However, this test is known to lead to false positive response in case of strong irritants. DES is corrosive, and the study is not enough detailed to evaluate if irritation was correctly assessed in the test, so this response is not taken into account.

According to REACH annex VII point 8.3 column 2, the test is not required when a substance is corrosive.
