Details on results:
A first scan of the solutions was performed in the range 190 – 800 nm to choose the best wavelength peak for the quantitative measurements. In the case of Acid Red 249: l= 311.50 nm.At 48 hours was not reached the equilibrium, and new determinations after 96 hours were done. At 96 hours values reached equilibrium, so this value was considered for final calculations.
Conclusions:
The average Pow measured is 0.0253 at pH of 6.83, the average log Pow measured is - 1.6090.

n- octanol and double distilled water were pre saturated: enough quantity of double distilled water was mixed with n-octanol at room temperature and kept under agitation during 24 hours, then allowing phase separation. Analogous procedure was followed for n-octanol with addition of double distilled water.

Approximately exactly 0.04 g test sample was weighed and dissolved with double distilled water saturated in n-octanol to 100 ml in a volumetric flask (mother solution). pH was recorded.

The average Pow measured is 0.0253 at pH of 6.83, the average log Pow measured is - 1.6090 at 20°C.
