Bioaccumulation: aquatic / sediment

On the basis of the experimental studies of the structurally and functionally similar read across chemical and applying the weight of evidence approach, the bioaccumulation factor (BCF value) of the test chemical Pyridinium, 1,1'-[(6,13-dichloro-4,11-disulfo-3,10-triphenodioxazinediyl)bis[imino-2,1-ethanediylimino[6-[(2,5-disulfophenyl)amino]-1,3,5-triazine-4,2-diyl]]]bis[3-carboxy-, dihydroxide, bis(inner salt), hexasodium salt can be expected to be range from 0.6 – 1.8 L/Kg at a conc. of 2.0 mg/l and ≤ 5.5 L/Kg at a conc. of 0.2 mg/l on the basis of total lipid content, respectively or 1.4 – 4.7 L/Kg at a conc. of 0.2 mg/l and ≤ 6.4 – 28 L/Kg at a conc. of 0.02 mg/l on the basis of whole body wieght of test organism, respectively. Thus, based on this, test chemical Pyridinium, 1,1'-[(6,13-dichloro-4,11-disulfo-3,10-triphenodioxa zinediyl)bis[imino-2,1-ethanediylimino[6-[(2,5-disulfophenyl)amino]-1,3,5-triazine-4,2- diyl]]]bis[3-carboxy-, dihydroxide, bis(inner salt), hexasodium salt is considered to be non-bioaccumulative in aquatic organisms.

Data available for the structurally and functionally similar read across chemicals has been reviewed to determine the bioaccumulation potential in aquatic organisms of the test chemical Pyridinium, 1,1'-[(6,13-dichloro-4,11- disulfo-3,10 -triphenodioxazinediyl)bis[imino-2,1-ethanediylimino[6-[(2,5-disulfophenyl)amino]-1,3,5-triazine-4,2-diyl]]]bis[3-carboxy-, dihydroxide, bis(inner salt), hexasodium salt (CAS no. 79771 -28 -1). The studies are as mentioned below:

 

Bioaccumulation study was conducted on test organism Cyprinus carpiofor 6 weeks for evaluating the bioconcentration factor (BCF value) of test substance.The study was performed according to other guideline"Bioaccumulation test of a chemical substance in fish or shellfish" provided in "the Notice on the Test Method Concerning New Chemical Substances", respectively.Cyprinus carpio was used as a test organism for the study. Details on analytical methods involve the recovery ratio: Test water: 1st concentration area : 97.6%, 2nd concentration area : 94.8%, Fish: 71.9%, - Limit of quantitation: Test water: 1st concentration area : 0.14 ppm, 2nd concentration area : 0.015 ppm, Fish : 1.1 ppm. Test chemical nominal conc. used for the study were 2.0 mg/land 0.2 mg/l, respectively. Range finding study involve the TLm (48 hr) ≥ 1000 ppm (w/v) on Rice fish (Oryzias latipes). Lipid content of the test organism was determined to be 5.0%.The bioconcentration factor (BCF value) of test substance on Cyprinus carpio was determined to be in the range of 0.6 – 1.8 L/Kg at a conc. of 2.0 mg/l and ≤ 5.5 L/Kg at a conc. of 0.2 mg/l, respectively, which does not exceed the bioconcentration threshold of 2000, indicating that the test chemical is not expected to bioaccumulate in the food chain.

Range finding study involve the TLm (48 hr) ≥ 50 ppm (w/v) on Rice fish (Oryzias latipes).The bioconcentration factor (BCF value) of test substance on Cyprinus carpio was determined to be in the range of 1.4 – 4.7 L/Kg at a conc. of 0.2 mg/l and ≤ 6.4 – 28 L/Kg at a conc. of 0.02 mg/l, respectively, which does not exceed the bioconcentration threshold of 2000, indicating that test chemical is not expected to bioaccumulate in the food chain.
