Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In vitro study on binding of sebacic acid to human plasma albumin (Bertuzzi et al. 1993): When disodium sebacate is administered i .v . (e.g. for total parenteral nutrition), a substantial fraction of sebacic anions is likely to be bound in serum.
In vitro study on the effect on peroxosime proliferation in primary rat hepatocytes (Intrasuksri & Feller, 1991): The peroxisome-associated enzymes LH and FACO were non influenced by sebacic acid.

Additional information

In a published experimental study (Bertuzzi et al., 1993), binding of sebacic acid to defatted human plasma albumin, also in the presence of decanoic acid, was studied by means of equilibrium dialysis. In addition, the binding of sebacic acid in human serum was investigated. When disodium sebacate is administered i .v . (e.g. for total parenteral nutrition), a substantial fraction of sebacic anions is likely to be bound in serum.

In another published experimental study (Intrasuksri & Feller, 1991), the effects of selected monocarboxylic, dicarboxylic and perfluorinated fatty acids on peroxisome proliferation in primary cultured rat hepatocytes was investigated. The peroxisome-associated enzymes LH and FACO were non influenced by sebacic acid.
