See Table 2-1, 2-2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, and Figure 1 and 2, in 'Attached Background Material". Parental Daphnia median lethal concentration (LC50) > 33.5 mg/L.
The LC50 value and its 95% confidence limits could not be determined by statistical method because the mortality of parental Daphnia at the maximum concentration level was less than 50%.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Validity criteria fulfilled:
- yes
- Conclusions:
- The 21 day EC50 based on reproduction prohibition was 13.4 mg/L. The 21-day NOEC was 4.94 mg/L. The 21-day LOEC was 12.0 mg/L. EC50, NOEC, and LOEC based on time-weighted mean measured concentrations. Results should be interpreted with caution because the test substance concentration was not maintained above 80% of the initial concentration. Study summary in English available for review only. Full study report not available in English; therefore, not all information could be verified.
- Executive summary:
The 21-day toxicity of 2 -bromopropane to Daphnia magna was studied under semi-static conditions in accordance with the OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals, No. 211, Daphnia magna Reproduction Test. Daphnids were exposed to
2 -bromopropane at nominal concentration of controla, 1.0, 2.7, 7.1, 19.0 and 50.0 mg/L (geometric ratio approximately: 2.7). The 21 -da EC50 based on reproduction was 13.4 mg/L. The 21- day NOEC was 4.94 mg/L.
The 21-day LOEC was 12.0 mg/L. Results should be interpreted with caution because the test substance concentration was not maintained above 80% of the initial concentration. However, the EC50, NOEC, and LOEC are based on time-weighted mean measured concentrations, according to guidelines.
Results Synopsis
NOEL: 4.94 mg/L
LOEC: 12.0 mg/L
Endpoint Effected: Reproduction
