Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

One key study is available according to OECD 105 Guideline and under GLP conditions. The dried test substance showed a solubility at 20°C in all the proportions tested (up to 100g/L). The supportive studies extracted from a scientifically recognized handbook don't give any measured information but confirm this statement.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
100 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

In the preliminary test it was impossible to obtain an aqueous solution saturated with test item even at a concentration of 90% test item. According to the definition of the water solubility in Method 105 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals and Method A6 of Commission Regulation 5EC) N°440/2008, the substance can be considered to be miscible with water in all proportions. Therefore it was not necessary to determine the mass concentration of the test solutions by a suitable analytical method. The definitive test was therefore performed at a range of concentration from approximately 95%w/w and the solubility was assessed visually.

Phosphinic acid has been determined to be miscible with water in all proportions at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C.
