Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

One data from a database was available for phosphinic acid: 108° C. This value was confirmed by other piece of evidence from other studies performed to fulfill the flash point and self ignition endpoints.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
108 °C

Additional information

One data from a database was available. Phosphinic acid starts boiling at 108°C.

As this value was obtained from a database without any indication on the purity of the material, a weight of evidence was performed.

Since refluxing was observed at 110°C, and decomposition at 130°C during flash point and self ignition studies on the 60% aqueous solution then the value of 108°C for the boiling point appears representative of the registered substance.
