Description of key information

Based on the chemical composition and molecular structure, dicyclohexylamine does not pose any hazard in respect to the explosivity properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Examination of the structure of dicyclohexylamine indicates that there are no groups associated with explosive properties. Therefore, negative results can be predicted and no testing for explosive properties has been carried out. Dicyclohexylamine was tested for explosive limits. Two studies with the reliability of 2 (valid with restrictions) are available. Lower explosive limit 0.9 % by vol. and upper explosive limit 6.9 % by vol. (NIOSH, 2004) and lower explosive limit 0.83 % by vol. and upper explosive limit 4.6 % by vol. (Eller K, Henkes E, 2000) were found in studies with unspecified purity of dicyclohexylamine.
