Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The samples were heated under inert gas from 20 °C to 190 °C using a heating rate of 10 K/min. As reference an empty crucible of the same kind was used. The heat flow and temperature was recorded by the DSC during the test. After the test the appearance of the test substance was inspected for visual changes and the crucible was weighted.

The weight of the used crucibles were unchanged after measurement. When heating the same sample again after determination of the melting point only a baseline was recorded. The test samples appeared as solid and slightly yellow.

Conclusions:
The melting point of N-Phenyl-N'-[phenylamino)sulfonyl]urea is 168.61 °C (441.76 K). Under the conditions of measurement a decomposition of the substance is observed at temperatures above the melting temperature.

The thermal behaviour of N-Phenyl-N'-[(phenylamino)sulfonyl]urea was measured with diffential scanning calorimetry, heating rate 3 °C/min. A small exothermal peak was detected at temperatures slightly above the melting point.

Conclusions:
The melting temperature 161.42 °C was measured.

Description of key information

The melting point was determined by differential scanning calorimetry. Under the conditions of measurement a decomposition of the substance is observed at temperatures slightly above the melting temperature.
