Conclusion on classification
Short-term toxicity results for fish, Daphnia and algae are available for the substance. The LC50 value for fish is 38 mg/L. The EC50 value for Daphnia is 83 mg/L. The ErC50 for algae is 38 mg/L. Since all acute L(E)C50 values are > 1 mg/L, the substance does not need to be classified for acute toxicity according to Regulation 1272/2008/EC (CLP: Table 4.1.0; a). The only available chronic value is the EC10 of algae being 8.4 mg/L. According to CLP Figure 4.1.1, the chronic classification has to be determined based on this chronic value according to Table 4.1.0, (b) ii and based on available acute data according to Table 4.1.0, (b) iii and the most stringent outcome should be leading: The substance is readily biodegradable. Based on the EC10 > 1 mg/L, the substance does not need to be classified for chronic toxicity according to Table 4.1.0, (b) ii. Furthermore based on the fact that the substance is readily biodegradable and that the Log Pow < 4, it does not need to be classified for chronic toxicity according to Table 4.1.0, (b) iii.
Overall, it can be concluded that the substance does not need to be classified for environmental hazards according to CLP: Regulation 1272/2008/EC and its amendments.
As the acute L(E)C50 values are >10 but ≤ 100 mg/L, the substance needs to be classified as Acute Cat. 3 (H402) according to GHS (but not for chronic toxicity).
