Toxicity to terrestrial plants:

In the publication of Wink, 1995 the inhibition of radicle growth of Lepidium sativum was determined. At a concentration of 3.24 mM (1 g/kg soil) cinchonine showed a 94% growth inhibition for 5 days. Nevertheless, at a concentration of 0.324 mM (100 mg/kg soil) no inhibition was detected. Cinchonine showed a phytotoxic effect at concentration of 3.24 mM.
