Additional information

Cinchonine hydrochloride was tested in astatic Daphnia magna, Acute Immobilisation Test according to the OECD Guideline 202 for 48 h. Five nominal concentrations between 6.25 and 100 mg/L were used. The EC50 of cinchonine hydrochloride is 79.96 mg/L for Daphnia magna during the test period of 24 h. And the EC50 during the test period of 48 h is 14.25 mg/L. According to this, the EC50 of cinchonine is 11.41 mg/L.

Conclusion on classification

The experimentally determined EC50 of cinchonine for invertebrates is > 10 mg/L. According to CLP 1272/2008 criteria for acute aquatic toxicity, cinchonine does not need to be classified.
