Description of key information

- EC50 (72 h) for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata 77.7 mg/l (growth rate) (EC 440/2008 C.3, OECD 201 )
- NOEC (72 h) for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata 18.8 mg/l (growth rate) ( EC 440/2008 C.3, OECD 201)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
77.7 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
18.8 mg/L

Additional information

White liquor was toxic to aquatic algae in the key study, but the toxicity was lower that for aquatic invertebrates. The dry solids/water ratio of the tested sample was 17/83 % by weight (dwt/wwt).

Toxicity to aquatic algae:

EC50 (72h) value for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was 77.7 mg/l (dwt.) 457.1 mg/l (wwt.).

NOEC (72h) value for Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was 18.8 mg/l (dwt.) 110.6 mg/l (wwt.).
