Description of key information

Appearance :

Chemical disodium 4-[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl) diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate physically appears as a solid powder having red to yellow tint color.

Melting point:

Based on prediction done melting point of disodium 4-[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate was  estimated to be 348.86 Deg C.

Boiling Point:

Boiling point of disodium 4 -[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate was  estimated to be 791.71 ˚C.

Density:

Based on prediction done using ACD/I-Lab 2.0,the density of disodium 4-[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate was estimated to be 1.59 g/cm3.

Particle size distribution:

The particle size distribution of test item disodium 4-[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The particle size distribution was determine to be in the range of 150 micron to 25 micron.

Vapour pressure:

The estimated vapour pressure of disodium 4 -[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate at 25 deg C was 4.25E-19 Pa.

Partition coefficient:

Based on the available data from authoritative and modeling databases, the partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance disodium 4 -[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen -1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate was estimated to be -1.9. On the basis of this estimated value, chemical disodium 4 -[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxido naphthalene-2 -carboxylate can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.

Water solubility:

The estimated water solubility of disodium 4-[(E)-2-(4-methyl-2-sulfophenyl)diazen-1-yl]-3-oxidonaphthalene-2-carboxylate at 25 deg C was 116000 mg/l.

Surface tension:

Based on the data from ACD labs, surface tension for disodium 4-[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate was predicted to be 0.0641 N/m.

Flash point:

Flash point of disodium 4-[(E)-2-(4-methyl-2-sulfophenyl)diazen-1-yl]-3-oxidonaphthalene-2-carboxylate is calculated at 1 atm. Pressure to be 549.12 Deg C.

Auto flammability:

Disodium 4-[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that  disodium 4 -[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate is not auto-flammable.

Flammability:

Disodium 4 -[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that disodium 4 -[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus disodium 4 -[(E)-2 -(4 -methyl-2 -sulfophenyl)diazen-1 -yl]-3 -oxidonaphthalene-2 -carboxylate was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.

Explosiveness:

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties which include oxygen, but the calculated oxygen balance is less than - 200.

Oxidizing properties:

The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
