Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Data on the toxicity of the target substance Isopentyl oleate (CAS 627-89-4) to aquatic microorganisms are not available. The assessment was therefore based on studies conducted with the structurally similar substanceIsopropyl oleate (CAS 112-11-8) as part of a read across approach, which is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. Further justification is given within the overall summary chapter 6.1 and within the analogue justification section 13.

The toxicity of the source substance Isopropyl oleate (CAS 112-11-8) to microorganisms was tested according to ISO 10712 and GLP (Mead, 1997). Pseudomonas putida was exposed to a nominal substance concentration of 10000 mg/L for 16 h. Microorganism growth was not affected and thus an EC50 (16 h) > 10000 mg/L was determined.

Based on the available result from one structurally related source substance (in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5) which is characterized by a similar ecotoxicological profile and comparable structure, it can be concluded thatIsopentyl oleate (CAS 627-89-4) will not exhibit effects on activated sludge microorganisms and it is not expected that the degradation process in STPs will be inhibited.
