Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Biodegradation in water: screening tests
Administrative data
Link to relevant study record(s)
Description of key information
The test substance is considered as not readily biodegradable, a biodegradation mean of 6% was reached at Day 28 in a test performed according to the OECD 301B testing guideline.
This is likely to be due to low bioavailability related to the insolubility of the test substance.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Biodegradation in water:
- not biodegradable
- Type of water:
- freshwater
Additional information
A ready biodegradation test was carried out on test substance according to OECD 301B testing guideline and under GLP. Experimental results on the reference substance are compliant with the OECD Guideline requirements for ready biodegradability testing. The results of toxicity control confirmed that the substance was not inhibitory to microorganisms. The test substance achieved a biodegradation mean of 6% at Day 28.
As the registered substance cannot be considered readily biodegradable, the identification of biotic degradation products is a standard information requirement according to Annex IX of the REACH regulation. The likely aerobic biodegradation products of the three constituents of the UVCB were identified and assessed for their P and B properties, by using the EAWAG BBD Pathway Prediction System and the EPA EPISUITE tools KOWWIN, BCFBAF and BIOWIN. The three parent compounds and its degradation products do not fulfill PBT nor vPvB screening criteria.
Information on Registered Substances comes from registration dossiers which have been assigned a registration number.
