Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The biodegradation of the reaction mass was tested in two guideline studies. A study following OECD guideline 301 B tested the ready biodegradability of the substance using predominantly domestic activated sewage sludge as inoculum. After an inoculation period of 28 days the test material attained 87% degradation and satisfied the 10-Day window validation criterion (Safepharm Laboratories Ltd 2003). A comparable result was determined in a second guideline study conducted in compliance with OECD 301 C. The test substance was inoculated with sludge collected from ten different places in Japan (combined and cultivated for one month). Based on the O2 consumption of the inoculum a degradation rate of 89-92 % was detected after 28 days. Based on HPLC analyses the percent biodegradation was 100 % after 28 d (Ciba Specialty Chemicals K.K. 2002).
