First-aid measures

Eyes: flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid.
Skin: flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical aid if irritation develops or persisits.
Ingestion: get medical aid. Do not induce vomiting. If conscious and alert, rinse mouth and drink 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water.
Inhalation: remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical aid.

Fire-fighting measures

In case of fire, ware a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand. MSHA/NIOSH and full protective gear. During a fire, irritating and
highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decompostion or combustion. Boric Oxide is not flammable, combustibel or explosive. The product is itself a flame retardant. Extinguishing media: substance is noncomustible, use agent most appropriate to extinguish surrouding fire.

Accidental release measures

Use proper personal protective equipment like eyewash facility and a safety shower, use adequate general or local exhaust ventilation to keep airborn concentration below the permissible exporure limits. When it happans spills/leaks, vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal container. Clean up spills immediately, observing precausion in the protective equipment section. Avoid generating dusty condition. provide ventilation.

Handling and storage

When handling with B2O3, workers must bear safety protection spectacles, dust protecting gauze mask and rubber gloves. Use with adequate
ventilation. Minimize dust generation and accumulation. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Mateial must be stored in
a tightly closed container, then in a cool, shady, dry, well-ventilated warehouse away from incompatibel substances.
