Three short term ecotoxicity studies were performed above solubility level of FR-245 (fish, algae and daphnia). The results of these studies show values of LC50 / EC50> 0.013 mg/l for all the 3 examined species. This is the water solubility value of the substance. This value was taken as EC50/LC50 due to technical difficulties in detection of the actual concentration of the substance in the water. In a recent water solubility study for FR-245 (2005) the water solubility of the substance was under the limit of detection in the study and was determine to be less than 1mg/l due to the same technical difficulties. The value of 1ug/l is taken as the actual water solubility value of the substance.
Although all the toxicity studies were performed above solubility level, under the studies conditions no toxicity to organisms was detected.
Long-term ecotoxicity studies were not performed. Due to the negligible solubility of the substance in water FR-245 is not available for aquatic organisms in the water phase.
The substance water solubility value of 1ug/l is taken as a worst case scenario for PNEC calculations.
