Cyclopropyl methyl ketone is a clear liquid with characteristic odour.
The melting point of available study reports shows melting points between -68.2 °C and -84.1°C. The average melting point was concluded to -70.6 °C +- 7 °C or 202.6 K +- 7K.
The boiling point of available study reports shows boiling points between 110 °C and 115 °C. The average boiling point was concluded to 112 °C +- 2 °C or 385 K +- 2 K.
The density of available study reports shows density values between 0.849 g/cm³ and 0.903 g/cm³. The average density was concluded to 0.887 g/cm³.
The relative density is ranged from 0.85 to 0.8994 at 20°C measured with water as reference at 4 °C. The average relative density was concluded to be 0.893.
The vapour pressure was found to be 27.1 mm Hg at 25°C (3.61 KPa, calculated result with MPBPWIN v1.42 software by using EPIWIN software package) or 44.7 mm Hg (5.96 KPa, calculated result by using EPIWIN software package).
The partition coefficient was calculated using KOWWIN (LOGKOW©) Program, Version 1.65, Syracuse Research Corporation, Merrill Lane, Syracuse, New York, 13210, USA, 2000. The calculated value was 0.56. Other supporting studies found that the partition coefficient could range from 0.21 to 0.49.
The water solubility ranged between 48980 mg/L and 52398 mg/L (calculated results by using EPIWIN software package or with WSKOW v1.41 software by using EPIWIN software package).
The surface tension from a reliable literature source was found to be 22.66 gs-2 at 17.9°C.
The flash point is 21 °C.
Cyclopropylmethylketone has no explosive properties (no mechanical and no thermal sensitivity).
