Description of key information

The product has a exothermic decomposition energy (at 290.0°C) of 65 J/g.

Additional information

A Differential Scanning Calorimetry was performed to know the behaviour of the test item during a heating procedure under nitrogen and at the atmospheric pressure.

A exothermic peak was observed at 290.0°C, the decomposition energy of this exothermic event was 65 J/g.

The Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures specifies that when the exothermic decomposition energy is less than 500 J/g and the onset of exothermic decomposition is below 500°C, a substance or mixture shall not be classified as explosive.

Based on the results obtained with the Differential Scanning Calorimetry analysis. We can also concluded that the test item is not self reactive substance.

Indeed, the exothermic decomposition energy is lower than 300 J/g, so according to "Recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods Manual of tests and Criteria Fifth revised revision edition 2009" the test item should not be classified as auto reactive material.
