Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One study is available on the toxicity of Heptanoic acid, ester with 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol (CAS No. 68855-18-5) to algae.

The key study conducted with Heptanoic acid, ester with 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol (CAS No. 68855-18-5) was performed as a limit test according to OECD Guideline 201 and GLP, in a static system (Vryenhoef, 2012). During 72 hours, the test organism Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was exposed to the nominal test concentration of 100% v/v, corresponding to a measured concentration of 0.0065 mg/L. This was the highest attainable concentration, due to the poor solubility of the test substance. No significant effects on growth or biomass of algae were observed during the study and the EC50 (72 h) was reported to be > 0.0065 mg/L. The NOEC was reported to be ≥0.0065mg/L.

As it can be seen in the data matrix of the category justification in section 13 and the overall endpoint summary IUCLID 6.1, all reliable data in the category support the hazard assessment of each category member by showing a consistent pattern of results, i.e no toxic effects up to the limit water solubility.
