Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash with plenty of water for at least fifteen minutes, and
seek medical advice.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with plenty of water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Symptomatic treatment. In all cases, remove contamined
clothing.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: In the event of fire, use water mist, foam or dry powder to
extinguish. Combustion products may contain carbon and
aluminium oxides. Wear a self-contained breathing
apparatus.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Observe any warning labels on the container and take
appropriate precautions. Contain and absorb spillages with
a suitable absorbent (sand, dry earth) and shovel into
waste containers for disposal at an approved tip or
incinerator.
Handling and storage
Handling: Normal standards of good housekeeping and industrial
hygiene should be observed to avoid exposure. In
particular, eye protection (goggles) should be worn.
Storage: No special precautions.

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: On mixing with water, the substance rapidly hydrolyses to
lower molecular weight aliphatic alcohols and acids
together with aluminium hydroxide. The reaction is not
violent. See test 5.2.2
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance hydrolyses in contact with water. Recovery is
not possible.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The substance may be disposed of at a controlled tip.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration at an approved facility is possible (but
aluminum smoke may be generated.)
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance is readily hydrolysed to lower molecular
weight alcohols and acids. Aluminium hydroxide will
precipitate from solution and, therefore, the aluminium will
not be readily available.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will be present only in preparations and is
not recoverable.
Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: At the concentrations present in preparations, the
hazardous effects of the substance will be negligible. In
fact, some of the other components may be more hazardous.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal should be as for domestic paints etc.
