Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
The heating rate slightly deviated from the value stated in the guideline of 0.5 °C/min (0.57 °C/min). This is considered as uncritical as a nominal heating rate of 0.5 °C/min was adjusted at the instrument and only a minimal deviation was ob-served.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)

Remarks on result:
no self ignition observed under the test conditions

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
No increase in the temperature of the sample in comparison to that of the oven could be detected; also no signs of ignition could be observed.
The test item 3-Mercapto-1,2,4-triazole is considered as showing no self-ignition up to the melting range of 218.5 – 220.0 °C under the test conditions
No observations were made which might cause doubts concerning the validity of the study outcome.
Executive summary:

The auto-flammability behaviour was determined by placing the test item into a stainless steel cube and heating from room temperature to an oven temperatureof 225 °C with the ZPA-3 oven.

No increase in the temperature of the sample in comparison to that of the oven could be detected, also no signs of ignition could be observed.

Therefore, the test item3-Mercapto-1,2,4-triazoleshould be considered as

showing no self-ignition up to the melting range of 218.5 – 220.0 °C

under the test conditions.
