Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Type of information:
calculation (if not (Q)SAR)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
22 May 2019
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
accepted calculation method
Justification for type of information:
For organic substances, an Oxygen Balance (OB) calculation may be useful as a criteria combined with an examination of the chemical structure as a means of predicting oxidizing properties. The oxygen balance is calculated from the empirical formula of a compound in persentage of oxygen required for complete conversion of carbon to carbon dioxide, hydrogen to water and metals to metal oxide. Oxygen Balance should be used in conjunction with an evaluation of the molecular structure for indicate chamical groups known to possess the potential to cause oxidisation.
