First-aid measures

General information

When in doubt or if symptoms are observed, get medical advice.

After inhalation

Provide fresh air. If experiencing respiratory symptoms and/or feeling unwell call a physician.

After contact with skin

Wash with plenty of water and soap.

After contact with eyes

Rinse immediately carefully and thoroughly with eye-bath or water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids..

After ingestion

Rinse mouth immediately and drink plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person or a person with cramps. Call a doctor if you feel unwell.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

No information available.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treat symptomatically

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable Fire Extinguish Media:

Foam, carbon dioxide, dry extinguishing powder, water spray, sand

Non suitable Media:

full water jet

Special Exposure Hazards:

Emission of irritating and toxic fumes and gases.

In case of fire may be liberated: Carbon oxides, Nitrogen Oxides (NOx)

Advice for firefighters

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures.

Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Use personal protection equipment.

Environmental precaution

Avoid release to the environment..

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Take up mechanically. For larger quantities: Use suitable dust binding material. Clean up affected area. Collect in suitable containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling

Avoid dust formation. Provide sufficient ventilation and/or local exhaust system. Use personal protection equipment. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice: Do not eat, drink, and smoke. Wash hands before break and after work.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion

Usual measures for fire prevention.

Requirements for storage rooms and vessels

Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Hints on joint storage

Store separated from strong oxidising agents.

For storage in a common place refer to the respective regulations.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Appropriate engineering controls

Provide sufficient ventilation and/or local exhaust system.

Protective and hygiene measures

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice: Do not eat, drink, and smoke. Wash hands before break and after work.

Eye/face protection

Wear tightly fitting safety goggles. (DIN EN 166)

Hand protection

Wear suitable gloves. (DIN EN 374)

The quality of the protective gloves resistant to chemicals must be chosen as a function of the specific working place concentration and quantity of hazardous substances. For special purposes, it is recommended to check the resistance to chemicals of the protective gloves mentioned above together with the supplier of these gloves.

Recommended glove material: Nitrile caouchouc.

Minimal thickness of the glove material for penetration time 8 h: 0,11 mm

Skin protection (DIN EN 943)

Choose suitable personal protection equipment dependent on substance concentration and amount specific for workplace. Chemical resistance should be clarified with the supplier.

Respiratory protection

The selection of appropriate respiratory protection systems should be determined on a case by case base depending on the exposure conditions. At exposure to dust or mist respiratory equipment with particle filter P1 (EN 143) recommended.

Maintenance, testing and change of the filter cartridges must be performed following the recommendations of the supplier.

Environmental exposure controls

Avoid release to the environment.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

No hazardous reaction when handled and stored according to provisions.

Chemical stability

The substance is chemically stable under recommended conditions of storage, use and temperature.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

Hazardous polymerisation does not occur.

Dust explosion capability can be assumed.

Conditions to avoid

heat

Incompatible materials

strong acids, strong bases, strong oxidizing agents

Hazardous decomposition products

pyrrolidone carboxylic acid

Disposal considerations

Chemicals and packages as waste must be disposed of in accordance with Directive 2008/98/EC and the respective national and local regulations. Consult your local or regional authorities. Do not contaminate ground- or surface waters via drainage, by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes.

Non-contaminated packages may be recycled. Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.
