The surface tension is not considered to be relevant for substance Fatty acids, C18-24, zinc salts.

This study does not need to be conducted if the water solubility of the substance is below 1 mg/L at 20 degree C (cf. Annex VII, section 7.6, column 2 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006). The water solubility of substance Fatty acids, C18 -24, zinc salts is < 0.63 mg/L. Thus waiving in accordance with Annex VII, section 7.6, column 2 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 is justified.
Moreover, it can safely be assumed that substance fatty acids, C18-24, zinc salts is not surface active based on read-across to a structural analogue.
Surface tension of the structural analogue substance Fatty acids, C16-18, zinc salts, whose water solubility ranges from 0.3 to 1.8 mg/L depending on test conditions, has been measured and is given here as supplementing information. The surface tension of a 90 % saturated aqueous solution of substance Fatty acids, C16-18, zinc salts was 64.56 mN/m (standard deviation 0.05 mN/m). Due to the fact that the surface tension is > 60 mN/m, substance Fatty acids, C16-18, zinc salts is classified as not surface-active substance. The substance Fatty acids, C18-24, zinc salts (carbon chain length: 18-24) can be regarded as being not surface-active as well, since surface activity depends mainly on the chain length and the water solubility of a substance which is comparable for the substances Fatty acids, C16-18, zinc salts and Fatty acids, C18-24, zinc salts.
