Details on results:

In a preliminary visual test, 55 mL of ultra-pure water were necessary to dissolve 0.5 g of test item: the approximate solubility was thus estimated to be around 10 g/L. Measured concentrations of 2-[2-(2-sulfanylethoxy)ethoxy]ethanethiol was stable from 24 h stirring to 72 h stirring (Table 1). It is therefore concluded that water solubility of 2-[2-(2-sulfanylethoxy)ethoxy]ethanethiol is 11,4 g/L.

The water solubility of2-[2-(2-sulfanylethoxy)ethoxy]ethanethiol was determined according to the OECD 105 guideline (flask method). A preliminary visual experiment indicated that water solubility could be around 10 g/L. Experiment was conducted on three independent test vessels containing each 20 g/L of test item. They were agitated for 24, 48 and 72 hours at 30°C in an oven respectively. At each time point, one test vessel was removed from the oven and let to settle at 20°C for 24 hours. Test item concentration was determined from HPLC-UV analysis. Measured concentration did not vary significantly from 24 to 72 hours incubation: the water solubility of 2-[2-(2-sulfanylethoxy)ethoxy]ethanethiolis 11.4 g/L at 19.8°C and pH 4.0
