Additional information

The fate and lifetime of tin bis(2-ethylhexanoate) in the environment will be governed by its rapid reaction with hydroxyl radical in the atmosphere, and by its rapid dissociation and biodegradation in soil, water, and sediments. Under the pH conditions typically occurring in the environment (i.e., pH 6 -8), the substance will be completely dissociated into the 2-ethylhexanoate and Sn(II) components, where the latter component will occur initially as Sn(OH)2, but will be spontaneously oxidized in the presence of molecular oxygen to form the insoluble inorganic solid Sn(IV)O2.
