Three acute toxicity tests including a fish, daphnid and algal study were available for propylene glycol n-propylether (PnP) along with an aerobic biodegradation DOC test following OECD 301A. A 96 -hr acute toxicity study was conducted with rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) exposed to propylene glycol n-propyl ether (PnP). This study was consider the key study, was non-GLP and rated a Klimisch score of 2. The 96 -hr LC50 for rainbow trout was > 100 mg/l, the highest concentration tested. A non-GLP acute toxicity study was conducted with the cladoceran, Daphnia magna exposed to propylene glycol n-propyl ether (PnP). This study was considered the key study and was rated a Klimisch score of 2. The 48- hr LC50 with Daphnia magna straus was > 100 mg/l, the highest concentration tested. An acute toxicity test was conducted with the green algae, Selenastrum capricornutum printz (now known asPseudokirchnierella subcapitata) exposed to propylene glycol n-propyl ether (PnP). This study was designated the key study and was rated a Klimisch score of 1. The 72 -hr EC50 value was 3440 mg/L. An aerobic biodegradation DOC die-away test following OECD Method 301A determinded propylene glycol n-propyl ether to be readily biodegradable as >70% of the material was degraded in the first 10 days.
