A statement on the appearance of the substance is taken from the test material section of a GLP-compliant study on the physico-chemical properties of the material (Atwal and Tremain 2011). It is considered adequate for assessment of this endpoint. Rhodium triiodide is a black powder.
This is supported by information from a reliable, peer-reviewed handbook (Lide 2008) which is considered suitable for use as a supporting study for this endpoint. At 20°C and 1013 hPa rhodium triiodide is black with hygroscopic, monoclinic crystals.
