Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

The mixture showed no burning effect. Only a smouldering in contact with the ignition wire was observed. This effect stopped immediately after the power supply was switched off.

* pile was opened during the test in order to check the reaction. Therefore this value is higher as in the middle of the pile the reaction can continue even when the surface reaction is finished. Due to this effect this value has not been used for the determination of the mean burning time.

The mean burning time of the mixture of the test item/cellulose 4:1 could not be determined. The mixture showed no burning and therefore no oxidizing effect.

The mean burning time of the mixture of the test item/cellulose 1:1 is 360 s (conservative approach, taking into account the smouldering process of the mixture).

Due to the fact that the mixture of the test item with cellulose (4:1) did not burn at all and the mixture of the test item with cellulose (1:1) has a higher mean burning time compared to the reference mixture int the ration 3:7, it is concluded that the test item has no oxidizing properties.

Description of key information

non oxidising solid (UN RTDG O.1)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

The oxidising properties of the test item were determined by UN RTDG Test O.1.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on oxidising properties of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification: The maximum burning rate of the test mixture was less than that of the reference mixture (3:7 potassium bromate and cellulose) in a test according to UN RTDG Test O.1.
