Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

EC50 (3h) > 1000 mg/L, EC10 (3h) = 200.4 mg/L (nominal) for activated sludge (OECD 209, read across)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for microorganisms:
200.4 mg/L

Additional information

Since no studies assessing the short-term toxicity of 5-[C11-12 (branched) alkyl]-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde oxime to aquatic invertebrates is available, in accordance to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5 Grouping of substances, a read-across to the structurally related source substance Benzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-5-nonyl, oxime, branched (CAS 174333-80-3) was conducted. The analogue justification document is attached to chapter 13.

The study with the read across substance was performed according to OECD guideline 209 under GLP conditions using domestic activated sludge as inocculum (Wehrhahn 2010). The test material was applied directly to the test vessels. Analytical monitoring was not performed. All validity criteria were fulfilled. The EC50 is determined to be > 1000 mg/L, while the respective EC10 is determined to be 200.4 mg/L based on nominal concentrations. Based on the high structural similarity which leads to similar behavior in the environment (see analogue justification document) this conclusion can also be considered true for

5-[C11-12 (branched) alkyl]-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde oxime.
