Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Since the hydrolytic half-life of the test material has been demonstrated to be less than 10 minutes at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C, solubility of the test material was estimated as < 3.15 x 10E-05 g/L using specialised fragment constant methodology software (WSKOW, version 1.40, Syracuse Research Corporation, William Meylan, 1994 to 2000). The software database of experimental literature values also allowed assessment of the solubility of the proposed hydrolysis products; 2-ethylhexanol (0.880 g/L) and boric acid (50 g/L).

Additional information

No testing was possible using Method 105 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995, due to the absence of a suitable substance specific method of analysis. Secondly, through the exposure of the test material solution to glass double-distilled water at pH 7 and subsequent analysis, the hydrolysis half-life of the test material was demonstrated to be less than 10 minutes at 20.0 ± 0.5°C. Therefore the water solubility of the test material, and the proposed hydrolysis products for environmental consideration, was investigated using the specialised software WSKOW, version 1.40, Syracuse Research Corporation, William Meylan, 1994 to 2000. The water solubility of the test material was estimated using a fragment constant methodology and positive database matches of literature values were obtained for the two hydrolysis products. The results are summarised in the table below:
