Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

EC50 (72 h) > 0.055 mg/L (experimental, measured average concentration) for Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata (OECD 201)
NOEC (72 h) = 0.055 mg/L (experimental, measured average concentration) for Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata (OECD 201)
EC50 (96 h)= 1.35 mg/L (QSAR calculation)

Additional information

One study evaluating the toxicity of methyl decanoate (CAS No. 110-42-9) to algae is available (Bouwman, 2010). This test was conducted according to OECD Guideline 201, under GLP conditions. Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata was exposed to the test substance for 72 hours within static water regime at 23 ± 1°C. Measurements of test concentrations (loading rate at 100 mg/L and dilutions) were performed through GC analysis. After 72 hours, no significant effects on algal growth rate were reported except for the highest concentration (0.055 mg/L, measured initial average concentration), in which 28.5% inhibition was observed. The ErC50 (72 h) was determined to be > 0.055 mg/L and the NOErC (72 h) = 0.055 mg/L. Additionally, a QSAR calculation (ECOSAR v1.00) was performed, resulting in an EC50 (96 h) of 1.35 mg/L (green algae, calculation for neutral organics).
