Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

With high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic organisms. The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated.

As the substance is handled throughout its lifecycle under strictly controlled conditions (see chapter 13), long-term studies are not considered to be necessary.

This aquatic toxicity assessment was based on the following data:

Fish:

No data on the toxicity of the test substance to fish are currently available. In a guideline study similar to OECD 203, which was conducted with the structurally similar substance CAS 102242 -49 -9, a LC0 (48h) of 10000 mg/L was determined (Henkel R-0800123, 1988). Therefore, the test substance is considered to be with high probability acutely not harmful to fish in the range of water solubility.

Aquatic invertebrates:

No data on the toxicity of the test substance to aquatic invertebrates are currently available. In a guideline study according to OECD 202, which was conducted with the structurally similar substance CAS 102242-49-9, a LC0 (48h) of 10000 mg/L was determined (Henkel R9501031, 1995). Therefore, the test substance is considered to be with high probability acutely not harmful to aquatic invertebrates in the range of water solubility.

Algae:

In a guideline study according to OECD 201 with the registered substance CAS 102242 -48 -8, a NOEC (72h, based on yield as well as on growth rate) of 100 mg/L was determined (BASF Project No.: 60E0276/12E070). Therefore, the test substance is considered to be acutely not harmful to aquatic algae in the range of water solubility.

Microorganisms:

No data on the toxicity of the test substance to microorganisms are currently available. In a guideline study according to DIN 384 12, Part 27, which was conducted with the structurally similar substance CAS 102242 -49 -9, an EC0 (30 min) of 10000 mg/L was determined (Henkel R 0800124, 1988). Hence, the inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

The detailled Read Across justification is provided under Chapter 13.
