It was observed, that the burning rate of the mixture of the test item with kieselgur (inert) was also higher and than that of the reference mixture and even higher than with cellulose. Therefore the result of the mixture test item/cellulose was clearly wrong positive.

This result can be explained, if the melting of the test item is considered. Due to the larger surface the burning rate can be significantly raised. This can pretend wrongly positive results.

Therefore the test item was not classified as an oxidizing substance according to EEC Guideline A.17.
