Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- Weight fraction analysis of the ‘as received’ sample resulted in a weight % <63 µm (from sieve and Accusizer Analysis) of 8.2. The following values were obtained from sieve analysis only: weight % <250 µm was 56.5; weight % 250 to 425 µm was 2.5; weight % >425 µm was 40.9.
Weight fraction analysis of the Fike sample resulted in a weight % <63 µm (from sieve and Accusizer Analysis) of 81.4. - Executive summary:
Particle size analysis was performed in support of dust explosion evaluation. Both 'as received' and sieved (<63 µm) material were analysed using a Particle Sizing System Accusizer 780 equipped with an LE400-0.5 sensor.
The 'as received' samples were sieved using a 425 µm sieve in order to determine the weight percent less than 425 µm. An additional sieve analysis was performed to remove particles greater than 250 µm and the less than 250 µm portion of the sample was analysed using the Accusizer particle size analyser.
The Accusizer data was combined with the sieve analyses to obtain the weight percent of the samples less than 63 µm and the size distribution of those particles less than 63 µm.
Weight fraction analysis of the ‘as received’ sample resulted in a weight % <63 µm (from sieve and Accusizer Analysis) of 8.2.
