Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
Readily biodegradability:
The substance is considered not readily biodegradable since 1% degraded within 28 days. The toxicity control showed that the test item SymWhite 377 can be identified as non toxic in a ready biodegradability test.
Partition coefficient:
The calculated logPow is approx. 2.11. According to ECHA guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment - chapter R.11: PBT assessment, May 2008), “for organic substances with a log Kow value below 4.5 it is assumed that the affinity for the lipids of an organism is insufficient to exceed the B criterion, i.e. a BCF value of 2000 L/kg (based on wet weight of the organism, which refers to fish in most cases).” Thus, it can be assumed that the BCF of SymWhite 377 is lower than 2000 L/kg which indicates that neither the B nor the vB criterion is fulfilled. For further information please refer to the CSR - PBT, vPvB assessment.
Hydrolysis:
The substance
does not undergo hydrolysis at 50 °C at pH 4 and 7 but was subject to
slight hydrolysis at pH 9 in the preliminary test. In the advanced test,
the degradation of the test item at pH 9 was < 10 % for 20 °C and
> 10 % for 30 and 50 °C (29 % and 93 %, respectively). With regard to
the guideline on hydrolysis the results indicated a half life of > 1
year for the SymWhite® 377 at pH 4 and pH 7 (25 °C). At pH 9 a half life
of 2613 hours resulted from hydrolysis at 25 °C.
Adsorption/Desorption screening:
According to the McCall classification scheme of soil mobility potential SymWhite 377 is classified as highly mobile in soil (log Koc= 1.96) (OECD 121).
