Additional information

Biodegradation of cloquintocet-mexyl has been investigated in water, water/sediment systems and soil.

Biodegradation of cloquintocet-mexyl was observed in a screening test, but was not sufficient to conclude that cloquintocet-mexyl was “readily biodegradable”. Cloquintocet-mexyl rapidly degraded in aerobic and anaerobic water/sediment systems but slowly degraded in sterile condition. The half-lives of cloquintocet-mexyl in the water and the sediment phase were found to be 0.2 and 0.7 days respectively.

Biodegradation in soil under aerobic conditions was also very fast (DT50 from 0.2 to 2.4 days, depending on soil types and experimental conditions), while cloquintocet-mexyl persisted in anaerobic/sterile conditions.

The biodegradation of CGA153433, a relevant metabolite of cloquintocet-mexyl, was investigated in soil and water/sediment systems. Degradation was slower than the parent compound in every case.
