Ferromolybdenum slags primarily consist of oxides of silicon, aluminium, calcium and iron, in a glass-like, mostly amorphous matrix. According to phase-diagrams for the three-phase-system Al2O3-CaO-SiO2 (see attachment), the melting point of such materials is approximately in the range of 1100 -1600 °C, depending on actual composition. This is in agreement with temperature measurements conducted during the production process. Ferromolybdenum slags are a by-product of the production of ferromolybdenum.
