First-aid measures
Eyes: In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for a t least 15 minutes. Get medical aid immediately.
Skin: In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical aid immediately. Wash clothing before reuse.
Ingestion: If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Get medical aid immediately. If victim is fully conscious, give a cupful of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Inhalation: POISON material. If inhaled, get medical aid immediately. Remove victim to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
Notes to Physician: Treat symptomatically and supportively.
Fire-fighting measures
General Information: As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. Vapors may be heavier than air.
They can spread along the ground and collect in low or confined areas. Containers may explode if exposed to fire. Use of water will produce irritating and toxic vapors of hydrogen chloride. Hydrochloric acid solutions react with most metals, forming flammable hydrogen gas.
Extinguishing Media: Do NOT use water directly on fire. Use carbon dioxide or dry chemical. Do NOT get water inside containers.
Flash Point: Not available.
Autoignition Temperature: Not available.

Accidental release measures
- Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Wear respiratory protection. Avoid breathing vapors, mist or gas. Ensure adequate
ventilation. Evacuate personnel to safe areas.
- Environmental precautions:
Do not allow product to reach sewage system or any water course.
- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
Use neutralising agent.
Ensure adequate ventilation.
Soak up with inert absorbent material and dispose of as hazardous waste. Do not flush with
water. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
Handling and storage
Handling: Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Keep container tightly closed. Do not ingest or inhale. Discard contaminated shoes. Use only with adequate ventilation or respiratory protection.
Storage: Keep container closed when not in use. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Corrosives area. Store protected from moisture.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Engineering Controls: Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Use adequate ventilation to keep airborne concentrations low.
Exposure Limits:
ACGIH: none listed
NIOSH: none listed
OSHA - Final PELs: none listed
OSHA Vacated PELs: Trichloroacetyl chloride: No OSHA Vacated PELs are listed for this chemical.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Eyes: Wear chemical splash goggles.
Skin: Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure.
Clothing: Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin exposure.
Respirators: A respiratory protection program that meets OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 requirements or European Standard EN 149 must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrant respirator use. Wear a NIOSH/MSHA or European Standard EN 149 approved full-facepiece airline respirator in the positive pressure mode with emergency escape provisions.
Stability and reactivity
Chemical Stability: Stable under normal temperatures and pressures.
Conditions to Avoid: Moisture, Heat
Incompatibilities with Other Materials: Alcohols, Strong bases, Strong oxidizing agents and water.
Hazardous Decomposition Products: Hydrogen chloride, phosgene, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide.
Hazardous Polymerization: Has not been reported.
Disposal considerations
Chemical waste generators must determine whether a discarded chemical is classified as a hazardous waste. US EPA guidelines for the classification determination are listed in 40 CFR Parts 261.3.
Additionally, waste generators must consult state and local hazardous waste regulations to ensure complete and accurate classification.
RCRA P-Series: None listed.
RCRA U-Series: None listed.
