Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The substance is an on-site intermediate. Therefore, exposure will be minimal, and toxicokinetics information is not necessary. Disilane, chloro Me derivs.is expected to hydrolyse rapidly in contact with water to give hydrogen chloride and, initially, the silanol derivatives of the three main constituents, and further hydrolyse to methylsilanetriol and dimethylsilanediol.Under physiological conditions any substance absorbed into the body would be found as methylsilanetriol or dimethylsilanediol. The toxicokinetics of these properties of these substances have been discussed in detail in the CSRs of the REACH-registeredchlorosilane precursors trichloro(methyl)silane and dichloro(dimethyl)silane. Based on their physiological properties, absorption and distribution are expected to be low, thoughsince the hydrolysis product hydrogen chloride is corrosive, damage to the skin and respiratory tract lining might increase penetration.
