Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with a mixture of IPDA and MXDA was not tested for environmental fate properties instead read-across approach was applied. Reaction products of IPDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) and Reaction products of MXDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) show similar abiotic and biotic degradation properties, therefore, the degradation properties of the asymmetric epoxy-amine adduct were considered comparable.

Additional information

Hydrolysis

Based on the results obtained in the preliminary test according to EU method C.7 and OECD guideline no. 111, Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with IPDA and MXDA was hydrolytically stable at pH 7 and 12 °C (half-life >1030 days at 12 °C). Hydrolysis at pH 4 and pH 9 was assessed using a read-across approach to the symmetrical epoxy amine adducts. Based on the results obtained hydrolysis at 50 °C was 19 days for pH 4 and pH 9.

Biodegradation in water

The asymmetrical epoxy amine adduct Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with IPDA and MXDA was not tested for biodegradation. Instead, a read-across approach was applied using data from the symmetrical epoxy amine adducts Reaction products of IPDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) and Reaction products of MXDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE), as these substances were considered to show similar environmental fate properties. Based on the obtained results, Reaction Product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with IPDA and MXDA was considered not readily biodegradable.

Adsorption/desorption

Based on a read-across approach using data obtained for Reaction products of IPDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) and Reaction products of MXDA with bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) the log Koc for the asymmetrical adduct Reaction product of Bisphenol A diglycidylether (BADGE) with IPDA and MXDA was estimated at 4.82 (worst-case scenario).
