Description of key information

Estimation of Koc value by EPI Win (Koc Win, v2.0), by MCI methodology:

Koc = 7.887 L/kg.

Additional information

Soil adsorption

The organic-normalized sorption coefficient for soil (Koc) was predicted with KOCWIN v2.00 and reveals a value of 7.887 L/kg using the MCI method (Chemservice S.A., 2017). This method is based on the substance specific partition coefficient and includes improved correction factors. The traditional method showed a value of 4.494 L/kg. Thus, a low binding capacity to soil can be expected for Butylaminoethanol (according to Freundlich, cited in: "Handbuch des Bodenschutzes"). In addition, the chemical is considered to be readily biodegradable.

Air water partition coefficient

Henry´s Law constant (HLC) describes the equilibrium concentration of a dissolved substance in air versus the dissolved substance concentration found in water. At a constant temperature, the solubility of a gas in a liquid solution will be proportional to the partial pressure of the gas which is above the solution (Henry, 1803). The HLC of Butylaminoethanol was predicted with HENRYWIN v3.20 (Chemservice S.A., 2017). Two different models are used: The group method, which splits the compounds into smaller units and the bond contribution method, which includes individual hydrogen bond values as well. Assuming a surrounding temperature of 25 °C, the group Method gives a value of 6.08 E-5 Pa*m³/mol, the bond method results in a HLC of 1.91 E-4 Pa*m³/mol.
