Additional information

Hydrolysis is not expected to be a relevant degradation pathway for methyl hexanoate (CAS No. 106-70-7) in view of its estimated half-lives (i.e., 3.3 years and 121 days at pH 7 and 8, respectively; HYDROWIN v2.00) and the fact that the substance is readily biodegradable. The vapour pressure reported for this substance (i.e., 496 Pa at 25ºC) indicates its potential for volatilization into air. Nevertheless, methyl hexanoate is susceptible to undergo indirect photodegradation in air (by reaction with OH-radicals), with an estimated half-life of 81.6 hours (AOPWIN v1.92).
