Discussion

The endotherm observed for the melting temperature gave an onset of approximately 1 °C higher than that determined in Section 3.1. This has been attributed to a measurement lag due to the higher heating rate used in the boiling temperature determination. Due to the low enthalpy change during decomposition it was not possible to determine the exact temperature at which decomposition began. The onset of decomposition has been taken from 250 °C, the temperature where a color change was first noted in the visual assessment.

Conclusions:
The test item has been determined to decompose from 250 °C (523 K). As the test item decomposed, no value for boiling temperature could be determined.
