First-aid measures

DESCRIPTION OF FIRST AID MEASURES


Inhalation -


If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration and/or oxygen. Get medical advice.


 


Skin contact -


Remove contaminated clothing. Wash exposed skin with soap and water. Get medical advice.


 


Eye contact -


Wash with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Continue for at least 15 minutes. Get medical advice.


 


Ingestion -


If swallowed, wash out mouth with water. Give milk or water. Do not induce vomiting without medical advice. Get medical advice.


 


INDICATION OF ANY IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION AND SPECIAL TREATMENT NEEDED


Treat symptomatically and supportively. May cause fever, gastrointesinal disturbance, nausea, vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA


Suitable extinguishing media -


Use water spray, foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide as appropriate for surrounding fire and materials.


 


Unsuitable extinguishing media -


Do not use water jet.


 


SPECIAL HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE


In case of fire toxic fumes of carbon oxides (COx) may be emitted.


 


ADVICE FOR FIREFIGHTERS


Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes. Prevent fire-extinguishing water from contaminating the watercourses.

Appropriate engineering controls -


Use appropriate controls (e.g. containment) as specified in a workplace risk assessment. Technical measures and appropriate operations should be given priority over the use of personal protective equipment. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.


 


Personal protective equipment -


Eye face protection - Wear safety glasses with side shields. An emergency eyewash station should be available.


Skin protection - Handle with gloves. The selected gloves must comply with the specifications in EC Directive 89/686/EEC and the related standard EN374 or applicable federal, state and national legislation.


Protective clothing - The type should be selected accordning to concentrations, quantities and duration of handling at the specific workplace.


Respiratory protection - If risk for exposure wear full mask with breathing filter. In laboratories, use fume hood or laminar flow booth.


Environmental exposure controls - Do not release into drains or watercourses.
