Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
28 September 2006 to 28 March 2007
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Only a preliminary test was performed.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 105 (Water Solubility)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Only a preliminary test was performed.
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Only a preliminary test was performed. The main test could not be performed as it was virtually impossible to separate the test item from the aqueous phase on trying to prepare saturated solutions of test material in water.
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
flask method
Key result
Water solubility:
< 10.9 other: micro g/mL
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Remarks on result:
other: Based on preliminary test.
Remarks:
Results at room temperature.
Details on results:
After mixing 54.72 mg of test material with 1 mL of water and adding stepwise up to 5 L of water, the test material remained undissolved.

A main test using the flask shaking method was not conducted as it was impossible to separate the test material from the aqueous phase on preparing saturated solutions of test material.

The test material has a number of components, which have different solubilities, making it impossible to determine solubilities with a single analytical method. From a scientific viewpoint, however, visual determination, as performed in the preliminary test, is considered an acceptable way of determining the solubility of the test material in water.

Conclusions:
The water solubility of the test material, using visual inspection in a preliminary test, is estimated to be <10.9 micro g/mL at room temperature.
Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test material, using visual inspection in a preliminary test, is estimated to be <10.9 micro g/mL at room temperature.

A main test could not be performed as it was virtually impossible to separate the test item from the aqueous phase on trying to preare saturated solutions of the test material in water.

Description of key information

The water solubility of the test material, using visual nspection in a preliminary test, is estimated to be <10.9 micro g/mL at room temperature.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A main test could not be performed as it was virtually impossible to separate the test item from the aqueous phase on trying to prepare saturated solutions of the test material in water.
